intentional overbilling.
Billing process is intentionally confusing. I was charged extra for a "premium" domain with no indication that the amount billed would be in excess of what I had agreed to. I will be disputing the charge with the credit card company.

Well, like someone in a support group, I am not alone.



I'll be blunt... FatCow should be avoided at all costs until they get their ship in order, which judging by their attitude, will be never.



If you're looking for:



1. Reliable Email Servers

2. Fast web servers

3. quick SQL connectivity between web and SQL

4. Reliable LAMP platform

5. competent technical support

6. Everything bundled in such as subdomains, MySQL server

7. Response to your enquiries after you purchase...



then do NOT consider FatCow as an option.



In one response I received from them they said "well what do you expect for the price?" - well, what I expected was the glorious experience you promised on your website, is that too much to ask? Or is it just a dishonest scame?



Sigh... Never again.

Cheap, but you get what you pay for..
If you are truly websavvy, I'm imagining you could manipulate this service into doing what you want. Also, if you are really new to or lack knowledge in webhosting/sitebuilding, or are needing a website for the most basic purposes, it may serve you well.



If you you fall somewhere in between...this site offers frustrating/awkward/buggy tools and TERRIBLE support. Not terrible in availability, as people are generally available for live chat, but terrible in troubleshooting. The "solutions" are often later provided offline via a support ticket and commonly contain directions that make no sense/did not address the original problem/direct you to do something you have already done, etc. After a year, I am looking for a new host.

Watch out for all of the hidden fees here folks! Everything that glitters isn't always gold.



For example, you have to pay almost $8 per month extra just to have your site redirected to your domain name. That is, the web address that FatCow issues you will be "yourusername.fatcow.com/yourdomain.com" unless you want to pay the extra fee for adomain redirect so you can use "yourdomainname.com".

Terrible.
Please do not sign up with these guys, they are

terrible. Their customer service is so awful and

one of their technical support agents told me that

he would hang up on me, because my case has

been sent to management and there is nothing

else they can do. I purchased and SSL from these

guys and they never sent it to me, and I finally

requested a refund that I still don't have. This all

took place withing a 48 hour time from, so I was

within their refund policy.

Fatcow runs very slow when uploading or running larger websites. The applications that fatcow has for easy install are out dated by one year or more.



If you get hacked, Fax Cow will just turn your website off without one email or phone call, they shut you down! Then email you after. Fatcow does not turn you right back on, they take their time after you fix the problem.



I would never recommend Fatcow as a web hosting company that can be depended on. If you need your website for business do not host it with Fatcow!

Chronic email problems.
Their web hosting side is fine, BUT their email servers are very touchy. We have had several sites for years and recently, because of very different problems with the previous hosts, we went to FatCow.



Technical support was good on the web hosting side, however they tried diligently to tell us that a consisting shutting off by THEIR mail servers was OUR fault. They couldn't/wouldn't solve the problem even after we followed all of their instructions, the software vendor's instructions and weeks of changing the pop server to three different settings. Nothing worked. We had to move because we run two business that depend on the Internet.



I would not recommend Fat Cow if you depend on email.

Horrible Experience from the Beginning!.
I went with fatcow thinking it was a good investment. I was totally wrong!



I asked for help to register my first free domain which was included with my hosting purchase. The support member gave me incorrect information that lead to a $20 charge and they refused to refund me my money. So since I didn't use my free domain credit, I asked yet another support member to help me register a new domain for free.



I asked her to do it for me, and SHE DID IT INCORRECTLY! It was because of her I was charged YET AGAIN for a domain. When I went to a 3rd support member he refunded me the $20 and registered the domain for me.



In the end I was charged due to Fatcow's fault. I will never go with them again and I highly do not recommend them. I just had nothing but problems with them.

The package they offer is truly universal - I'm planning to have personal blog and e-commerce web site, and I can use one account to host both sites. FatCow is not a good company.
Never had a problem with FatCow until our domain address expired. This occurred with other web hosting companies for other clients and all were quickly resolved.



With FatCow, we have been run around for the last 2 weeks with our website being down the whole time.



The customer support was horrible.



I would advise anyone not to use this company.

Bad Experience with FatCow.
I did some research before taking FatCow Web Hosting services and thought this could be the best option. But let me tell you one thing, if you have professional or services oriented sites then never go with FatCow.



Reasosn:



1) Don't use FatCow if you are looking for reliable web hosting company.

2) Don't use FatCow if you are looking for 99% uptime.

3) Don't use FatCow if you are using any CMS for your website.

4) Don't use FatCow if you have a business site (at least 8-10 times their server will be down in a month).

5) Don't use FatCow if you are using MySql Database.(most of the time they have connectivity problem with their MySQL database.)



I am an engineer and working in WWW field from last 4 years and never seen this kind of poor services. Use alternative option but dont go for FatCow.

Be Warned!!!! .
I must admit when I signed up with fatcow I was impressed with the tech support and user friendly control panel. My website is pretty basic (only 5 pages) so I only go into my control panel once every 3 months. Two months ago fatcow reduced my email quota BIG TIME! I was getting calls from customers about bouncing email. Then I noticed that they changed the interface of my email log in that made it crazy to use. Now it's Very user UNfriendly. The last straw was yesterday when I tried to log into my control panel and couldn't get access because NOW they require you to change your password every other week and you have use letters, numbers and punchuation characters!!!!



When I called tech support I was hung up on by "Charles" but manage to speak to a supervisor who was also rude. I was so angry that I decided to cancel my services with them immediately and seek another hoster.



Fatcow.com will start off being a dream come true but it will end in a nightmare. Never again!

It is 20th Nov 2009 and the fatcow.com domain

is

down and has been now for about 2 hours. If

their primary domain is down then I know

there is

no hope for my account...which is also down...

:( I

hope they get back soon. Their Joomla

installations are down constantly. I sincerely

don't recommend them especially if you are a

professional developer or hosting a business

account. Frustrating would be an

understatement.

Avoid Fat Cow.
Support is awful. It takes them hours to even start to answer and then they answer questions you have not asked. They pay no attention to what is actually the problem and just keep giving instructions you have already read and followed. Several of the support have been rude and condescending. Different people will tell you different solutions. I have spent 4 days trying to get a simple question answered. They keep sending replies that have nothing to do with question. Choose someone else.

08/28/2009 5:54AM - My account was suspended without notice. They put a

notice on all of my client's homepages that states that their hosting accounts

have been suspended. After calling support, my account was corrected and

turned back on hours later. *****



09/10/2009 8:44PM - I was effectively locked out of my account. I was told that

the quota on my "Unlimited Disk Space" account had been exceeded; I was

using less than 56MB. During this time, the support agent changed my account

password without notice as well. *****



09/28/2009 10:10PM - I contact support via live chat multiple times throughout

the night due to issues logging into my account and connecting by FTP. I was

continuously told that "it will take 15 to 20 minutes for the work to be

completed." The last support agent I chatted with could not help me, could not

give me an estimated time, he refused to transfer me to a manager, and he

refused to put be in contact with a support rep via phone or email.

Do not use this company for anything. I could write a book on all of the issues they have caused me. The latest being that they (without my knowledge) reduced the size of all of my email inboxes by 90%. This means that any email sent to my entire company was bounced. Now they are telling me that they are unable to change the email storage back to what it was before (which wasn't that high to begin with). Also, they have never been able to figure out why half of the time I try to login through webmail it times out or takes over 60 seconds. Their customer service is non-existent and incompetent at best. Do not waste your time with these people like I did.

Fat Cow is great if you want a small site to be up on the net.

But if you want grow or make changes,

I suggest finding another host.



If you use their provided HTML site editor you will be on the support line alot. They just released another web builder.. Free for basic.. 6 pages and $100 / year. for Premium.

Everything other than basic service cost extra. per month. for everything.

If its not theirs, ie php,java,script.. no support.



The price is cheap for basic, the support is good for basic



one to ten i give it a 5.5 only because of the extra charges.. If you want the full package.

Email services.
For the basic email, they give you 250m of space. What they don't mention is that you can only have 3000 total (including Sent) emails at any given time. After that you get bounce backs. Yes, I agree that one should clean out their email of crap, but if you do not archive and depend on "storing" on their email server, you are locked at 3000 unless you want to move to the Exchange Server.

Slow MySQL Servers.
I have been a happy customer for a couple years now. Their customer service is good, however technical support leaves a lot to be desired.



Once I started using MYSQL, I started having database timeouts, and if they didn't time out the sites would load very slow. It was fairly intermittent, but happened all the same.



For home use it's ok. Once my site became more work related that is when I decided to shop around (hence why I'm on the site :))



Good prices though, and very feature rich. They will enable custom dns manager for you account by request which is wonderful! Also have lots of scripts to pre-install for you.



Unfortunately though, I can't deal with the response times of the pages and have to look for a new host.
