by Samy C - 2010-09-07 : NO customer service. The features and the hosting is adequate, but customer support is awful. They take forever to answer support tickets, and even longer to fix problems. I have experienced numerous occassions when the servers have been down. I currently have a support ticket which they "escalated" almost 1 week ago to fix a problem their end, and I am still waiting for a reply, let alone a solution. The ticket is 10 days old at the time of this writing - unnacceptable in my opinion. If you need any kind of customer support, I would recommend looking elsewhere. |

by Anonymous - 2010-09-07 : All the best from Ireland Hostmonster rocks. I have been with hostmonster now for a little over a year and the are brilliant for the money and their tech guys are very good and really try to help. I would recomend them to my granny. If it is cheap web hosting you require with a lot of the bells and whistles then this will be for you. |

by TJ - 2010-09-07 : Host monster is horrible!. UNLIMITED DISKSPACE AND BANDWIDTH is their statement not mine, I just got another threat from them saying I had to reduce my files by 50% or they would "look at further action to resolve the issue" False Advertising on their part! They are based in Orem, UT and tomorrow I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Yes I have a big site but again their words "UNLIMITED DISKSPACE AND BANDWIDTH" They are giving GoDaddy a run for their money as Worst Hosting company! I have read most all the posting on Host Monster and Blue Host (same company) and can tell you that I too have had 99% of their troubles Too! |

by Unhappy with Host monster - 2010-09-07 : Un-reliable Hosting!. My web site has been down all day, it's a business site and this is costing me money. First they said it would be back up in a half hour, then they said 8 hours, now they say they don't know when. When I asked them about reliability and why they don't have any redundancy in their servers they said that for what they charge this is what you get. Well, I'm not going to stay with them much longer.... |

by Anonymous - 2010-09-07 : Undependable Host. 1) Email repeatedly has trouble being sent due to "server problems" 2) Site is down for 6+ hours: due to "server problems" 3) When we had some problems with SMF forum software, an HM tech person falsely stated that it was being discontinued. |

by Troy - 2010-09-07 : Worst i have ever used. This is the worst support team i have ever dealt with. Takes them over 24 hours to answer a question using either email or their helpdesk system. I have posted 2 tickets since the 6th of July and haven't yet received an answer about either one of them. They suck for support. |

by Sara - 2010-09-07 : Good host for everyone. :). I've been using Host Monster since June of 2007 and have had a great experience. If I do have a question, I just fill out a ticket and they answer in a few hours. I've been very happy with them and I like that I can pay yearly. Everything is really user friendly. I had a few questions about things when I first started with them, but everything on the hosting panel is pretty easy to figure out. |

by Nix - 2010-09-07 : Monter Host Sucks!. One of the worst in the world! I just don't understand how it could be ranked as best 10 webhosting?!!! The system sucks! The customer support is not professional at all! I was like asking an elementary student for support! Right after signing up the hosting and realize the services is out of my expectation, i quickly sent mail to the billing department for refund, but my mail was rejected by the system! This webhosting is nothing but MONSTER!!! |

by Mike - 2010-09-07 : Better hope you get a good server.... I'm the IT manager of two companies and read great reviews about hostmonster. I set up two domains and was satisfied for several months. Then one domain began getting repeated errors trying to receive and send email as well as having HOURS of email downtime during the workday. Sometimes it was an error with the server and they were fixing it, other times it was SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE - during normal business hours! Meanwhile the other domain was fine. The domains are being hosted on two separate servers, so obviously it appears one server is either malfunctioning or just very very old. I've complained approx. 15-20 times about emaiil outtages and made numerous requests to have my problem domain transfered to a new server --- always being turned down by hostmonster because they only transfer domains in "extreme or special circumstances"... apparently a bad server and HOURS of downtime for my company doesn't count!! Bottom line --- Hope for a good server or prepare for a NIGHTMARE! |

by Junelle - 2010-09-07 : Hostmonster Review. I was using godaddy hosting before and when I found out Hostmonster, I really thought it is worth a try since a price to host one site on godaddy could host unlimited site on hostmonster. The problem started when I start using their support, often times the live support answers or replies to my concerns too long. |

by The Database Infrastructure Group - 2010-09-07 : The Best We Have Had. Host Monster is the 3rd hosting company that we have had in the last 8 years. We have now been with them for almost two years. They are by far the best in every category. Their customer support is absolutely fantastic. But, the best part of it all...we have only needed to call them once in 2 years! These guys never go down. Best of all, their customer support is ON SHORE! Even though we have only had to call them once in a two year period. Now all we can do is hope that they remain as great as they are. |

|
by Toni - 2010-09-07 : terrible hosting. I have used host monster for 2 months and have to contact them on a weekly basis as my site is always down. Their customer support is apalling and no better that the cheap $12 per year host company I had just moved from!! I asked their tech support to find the fault but their online chat just ignored all my requests! Don't use them! |

by Twins.fan - 2010-09-07 : Now I know why they chose the name Hostmonster!. Hostmonster is pathetic! The owner is a real jerk. The staff is very green. Matt Heaton is the owner of Hostmonster and BlueHost. He parades himself as an entrepreneur, but he is a jerk! |
|
|
by Dazraf - 2010-09-07 : uptime and private nameserver!. HostMonster and BlueHost are sister companies, I've been with them about 5 years and I'm still satisfied! Never downtime! never lost any data! never charged! good service ever! |

by Wil Cecil - 2010-09-07 : Host Monster Horrors. I also have been having a horrible time with Host Monster / Bluehost They are a god awful company that eradicates sites leaving webmasters completely in the dark. They have no problem hanging up on you when you ask why your site was taken down and I would not recommend their "service" to anyone. I have had several down times where my server could not be reached and when putting a ticket in the only response ever is "All parts of our service are operating as they should be" or "I just checked it and its great over here." I am paying out of my pocket for my site and they are constantly harrasing me and my site. My site is simply a fansite to the Twilight series (an official fan-site), my photography (all under creative commons), and my Java Library (Lesser GPL). Apparently I am harboring copyrighted material, and pornography. Huge Shocker! In summery Never Ever Use HostMonster. Wil Cecil Owner AliceForever.com, Saslib.com |

by Bob Smith - 2010-09-07 : Best of the best, really. I think it should be more like 7 out of 5. I used webhostingpad.com and others. However, none of the other host except hostmonster support 24/7 contact, fast supporters, TRULY UNLIMITED DISKSPACE AND BANDWIDTH. The true wording of hostmonster is |

by Rob - 2010-09-07 : monster. they definitely are a monster when trying to get customer or technical support. I'd rather go to the dmv |

by Sheryl Sclater - 2010-09-07 : Not A Very Happy Camper with HostMonster. I purchased a site at hostmonster.com and uploaded my website from DreamWeaver only to be disappointed at the results of the website. It seems the host does not read the css. When I called the cs they did not understand what the .dwt extension was for on one of my files. They are blaming my website's lack of style to my misunderstanding of how a website functions. But I have uploaded to five other websites on different hosts without a problem. All I get is silence, seriously, silence when talking to cs at hostmonster. They see nothing wrong and don't offer any solutions or try to explore with me what could possibly be causing the lack of style on my website. A very passive-aggressive position. I am very unhappy with the results of uploading my website to hostmonster and will look into finding a host that will understand my knowledge of DreamWeaver and support my site in the style to which I'm accustomed. |

by Khan - 2010-09-07 : Gayest Hosting ever. 99% uptime thats bs their customer service is good but their server never up alwayz coming up with new excuses whenever i ask customer service why my site is down i dont recommend this hosting to anyone |
|
|
by Anonymous - 2010-09-07 : No problems. Infinite space and bandwidth, setup was instant. I contacted customer support about various things and they got back to me almost instantly each time. (within 20 minutes). I don't have any complaints. I'm glad I chose them. |

by Anonymous - 2010-09-07 : What you pay is what you get. When you pay for cheap hosting there is no such thing as 99.9% uptime. It's rather 99,9/2 % uptime. I have hosting accounts on both Webhostingpad.com & hostmonster.com. Same problem. One second my site is up, the other is down. When a visitor comes to your site and it is down for 10 sec, he goes somewhere else, we all know that. What do i need unlimited space and bandwidth for, when my site is only 200Mb and half the time is down? The joke is that i had an account on greek datacenter, which charges 22USD/month for 1.2Gb space, and i thought it was too expensive. But they offered TRUE 99,9 uptime. I think i going to move back there. |
|
|
by Lazaros - 2010-09-07 : what you pay is what you get. Everything good but there is no such thing as 99,9% uptime. It is rather 60%. What's the catch? The server is up and down in seconds. If you watch carefully your site by hitting refresh button every 5 seconds you will notice that it is up for 30 sec to 3min then down for 5 to 20 sec then again up for 50 sec then down for 10 to 40 sec etc etc. These 5-40 sec intervals are enough to lose your visitors. My site is www.larisaportal.gr in Greece. Before hostmonster.com i 've tried webhosting pad.com. Same situation. Before, i was paying a greek company which offered 1200 Mb space for 17$ /month and 30gb / month bandwith, which i thought is very expensive. But they offered true 100% uptime. By the way the support says that my problem has to do with my ISP. Then how come i always see google, yahoo and all other sites except mine, wich disappears from time to time? conclusion if you need somethin reliable don't buy cheap webhosting. Sorry for my bad english. |

by Mel - 2010-09-07 : One of the Best. After having Ipower web for 2 years Host Monster is a Blessing and has been excellent in all ways for me and my many websites. I have never had any real problems with them. I have experianced a few minor outages, but you get that with any hosting company. It has been slow at times but that is to be expected during peak times. The support has been excellent and the Tech people have been knowlegable and friendly.. They offer a lot for the money and keep the software updated. I like their C Panel and Scripting. I use Linux as my OS and make my web pages and do everything in Linux. No problems here. |

|
by Carolyn K. - 2010-09-07 : Can't keep it up!. I've been with HostMonster for several months, and my site has been down for several hours, mid-day EST, several times. Tech support has taken hours of my sitting on hold, and the site was back up by the time I talked to someone on one occasion. But today, it went down at 2 pm. We were told hard drive failure, will be back in 1-2 hours. It's now 9 pm... and nothing. No update, no site, nothing. So much for reliability! |

|
by Anton Marcos Kammerer - 2010-09-07 : Very Good. I did not have any problems. I might be wrong , but it seams like i was getting a 100% uptime. I did not need any kind of support, since all my questios where aready aswerd under the helpdesk. I do not use the e-mail much, but it seams to be in order. |

by Samy C - 2010-09-07 : hostmonster. The good: Tons of space, good price, 800# for support. The bad: they are like the internet cops, if you have something they don't like on your site, music or pictures or even a link to another site and they don't like it they shut your site down, no email or warning they SHUT IT DOWN. I had a picture that had been on all the news channels and they shut my site down saying it was adult content. Don't think so, but no discussion on hostmonsters part. Hostmonster told me, Take it off or we won't put your site back up. If you don't mind an abuse department that is a dictatorship and a company that wants to censor your content they're ok |

by Anonymous - 2010-09-07 : Unreliable. My websites go down wayy too much along with my email. This means I lose sales and lose search engine ranking. Very disappointing. |

by Lorri Collins - 2010-09-07 : Hostmonster Review. For the first two weeks, Hostmonster was OK except their customer service was horrible. They don't believe in returning e-mails. After a month the quality of hosting degraded so much that I was getting alerts that my web sites were down again. Try someone else. Hostmonster just isn't that reliable. |
|

by Kirk - 2010-09-07 : Hostmonster down for over 48 hours!. Yeah their service has really gone downhill over the last several months, This weekend was the peak of all things going offline. My site were all offline for over 48 hours. yes that's right 48 hours. That is absolutely unacceptable for any webhost, And when I call about I get... Um we don't know when it is going to be fixed. Not to mention in the past several months MySQL has routinely gone down. So instead of migrating the affected accounts over to another box, or heaven forbid had some reduncacy so this doesn't happen, I not only have to endure phone call after phone call from angry users of my forum, I loose 3 days of email!!! Needless to say, after being a loyal Hostmonster / Bluehost customer for the last 3 + years. I will be leaving for a much more reliable Host. |

by Matt - 2010-09-07 : Great Webhost. No one can complain about the price; Unlimited bandwidth and Storage- this was 15Tb of bandwidth and 1.5Tb of Storage when I first signed up, but it was still worth the $4.95 /m I pay for it (and I get upgraded should I ever use the space / bandwidth), buts its more than anyone will use. Setup is easy, and the control panel is easy to use (uses cPanel... google it). Knowledge base has loads of topics to help people, but people complain that the email support takes too long (took me 2 weeks to get a response)- don't use it- use live support instead, and you will get a response within 10 minutes. One of my gripes with hostmonster is the lack of forums- there is only a community created one, and it isn't the best. The DNS servers are crap, and are constantly going down- make sure you use another DNS server (your domain registrars?) instead. |

by Ryan S. - 2010-09-07 : Decent Experience. I brought my company's corporate website/e-mails over to Hostmonster from another host that shut us off for too many e-mails sent. In the year or so that we have been with Hostmonster, I think we have been down a total of 30 mins one weekend. No complaints. Customer Support was a 2 min hold, answered my questions, were knowledgeable etc. I rate them 4/5 (5 being impossible to obtain in my eye) |

by Hsalihba - 2010-09-07 : HM is the best. Just love their support, always perfect |

by Mahesh - 2010-09-07 : Unsecure. What to do with features when the main interface to control panel is unsecured and the password travels via unsecure channels on internet. look at their demo login. |

by Tony - 2010-09-07 : Depends on who you ask..... I don't know who the negative reviewers talk to but its not the hostmonster I use. I have used them for nearly two years coming this fall. NO problems! They do offer static IP for your domains, but they come at an extra 20 a year last I talked to them. So the review that says its not an option, is flat wrong. They are a fast growing company and with that there are GOING to be some hiccups. DUH!!! Anyone looking for a perfect web host company will never get a website cause they DO NOT EXIST! Servers crash, hardware fails, software glitches, EVERYWHERE. Be realistic! for the price and the amount of space and xfer I get, there is no one else out there that comes close. Oh, if you get on a glitchy server that crashes a lot like some a the other reviews say they had, you can simply put in a ticket to move your site to one of their other servers and they will migrate it over for FREE. It's so amazing what civil two-way communication can accomplish :) |

|
by Patrick - 2010-09-07 : crapy software and customer service. web builder is the worst, only 12 template to pick from (all of them have a picture of a computer and a person that you cant take off...) |

by HostMonstered - 2010-09-07 : HostMonster is more of a Monster than a Host. Like the guy who wants us to shut up about telling the truth about HostMonster/Bluehost, I own my consulting company as a well and have many clients that I have put on HostMonster during the brief period where they appeared like they know what they're doing. They still do, but the demise with HostMonster came from an erroneous and amateurish decision to bite more than they can chew. Now they have too many customers they can't support, an overworked staff that is on the edge who treats their customers (in turn their own livelihood) like shit. If you don't believe me, sign up for their service and find out. I have learned it the hard way and am in the process of slowly moving my clients away from Monster, I mean HostMonster. Yes, don't be fooled...HostMonster and BlueHost are the same companies. Beware and heed the advise of those who have already been burned by these companies and don't fall victim to their pre-sales charm. |
|
|
by Jeremy Cathey - 2010-09-07 : You people are smoking something!. This is by far the best hosting company i have seen in years. I own my own consulting company, and i have my companies website as well as over 70 of my customers with hostmonster, and i have not had a problem. I wouldn't be using them if i was going to have to get flack from my customers about their hosting. I have not had one complaint to give on my behalf, and i have not received any complaints from ANY of my customers. Who ever is bad mouthing this hosting company in the other reviews my want to quit posting bad comments about them and go cash the checks the other guys gave them to say that. |

|
by Ryan Graves, IstariMedia LLC - 2010-09-07 : POOR! POOR! POOR!. Frequent downtime, TREMENDOUS amount of spam since I switched over to them, frequent account suspensions with no communication as to why (unless I asked), emails get lost at the server and you never get them (my customers ask me how come I never respond to their emails - oh yeah, because I NEVER RECEIVED THEM!), and once you sign up for hosting they actually EMAIL you your hosting password - UNBELIEVABLY INSECURE!!! |
|
|
by Phil - 2010-09-07 : Same as Bluehost.com. I don't fully understand why your website does not immediately tell your visitors that Hostmonster.com and bluehost.com are in fact the exact same company. Bluehost.com has major downsides for web agencies managing several clients accounts (not to mention a poor pre-sales support). So after we discarded this option, we look for other hosts, and started talking with hostmonster. And after asking a few technical questions to their pre-sales support, we found that they had the exact same problems to service web agencies (no unique IP address per domain, no possibility to host the websites of a single client on different servers to avoid server proximity, and a dismal affiliate program which precludes any web agency to ensure a correct maintenance on a client's account.) Your website shows these 2 brands as separate. A dishonest approach. |
