Ixwebhosting review - beware of the file limitation.
Before you sign up for ixwebhosting, you better consider their imposed 100,000 file limit. They say the limit is 100,000 for windows and 300,000 for linux. Unfortunately, many of the staff at ixwebhosting do not even know this limitation themselves. The terms and conditions are very general and they claim unlimited storage and bandwidth. This borders upon scamming the client to sign up and then tack on a file limitation to get you to upgrade to ixwebhosting VPS account. Is this ethical? No, it's not. Should people sue ixwebhosting for doing this? Yes, clients who have been a victim of such misleading terms and limitations should work on a class action lawsuit. You can perhaps email elawcase@gmail.com but also contact your legal consultant as well. Regarding ixwebhosting hosting itself, ixwebhosting wouldn't be recommended because of their constant downtime and server speed.

Sorry, gotta tell the truth....
I WAS a customer for four years, not anymore, promised one price in August in writing, they reneged on it, took a week for a decision and they "allowed" the price to be as if I just signed on. Still more than they promised, I don't think so.



What about the web hosting rating sites registered under the name "Fathi Said" (CEO of IX),that all claim IX is number one? That's a curious thing....



Overall, their technicians were fair, a little slow, but Just OK.



Email problems were at the top of the complaint list. White-lists that never worked, Black-lists that don't work half the time.



I could go into outdated scripting programs provided by them, but that's a long story.



Other nasty problems were unusual hacking of several domains hosted by them, including one of mine, by link spammers from Moscow Russia. I don't know, it could have been my password was hacked, but several other customers hosted by them as well? Something just don't seem right.

Arm twistnig, mean and unlawful practice.
When DDOS attacks happens on their servers- it shows one thing...they can not/ could not handle server security.



Then comes drama with us- our websites on shared IP's were down and we were being told that ADMIN is after this issue.



Then comes second issue that they can change IP [ Shift IP's ]

Then comes third solution that they are changing servers.

and in last this was what we got from them..



Unfortunately, having to pay a little extra is the solution

IX-As good as they come.
After looking at almost all the other hosts on this site I chose to go with IX Web Hosting, and I am glad I did.



Sure up-time has not been 100% but no host can maintain that, IX is honest and addresses problems directly and in a very timely fashion.



I've seen a lot of bad things about their support as well but I have only good things to say about it, I also noticed in a blog post by their CEO they just hired a whole new CR team or something.



Anyway it seems to be working and like I said before IX was the right choice for me.

frequent down time and no support.
It would, in many cases, be days before I'd recieve a response from support, even though all of my websites were down. They state in the support tickets that their chat personell are available 24/7, but each time the support people on chat are engaged, the only thing they ever say is "Please wait for update to your ticket." Prolonged unscheduled downtime is frequent with them. Perhaps I've just been spoiled by other hosting companies where I can install a website and forget about it, because I would never hear from my users that there has been any disruption. If you chose IXWebHosting, you are a fool. Make use of my porr choice, as well as other reviewers that have fallen into the same trap!

High-handed arrogance.
I visited their site and was initially favorably impressed -- until a popup for their live chat appeared. This box is impossible to disable -- if you "close" it it just reappears again. Visit the site and see for yourself. I know I can probably stop it by disabling JavaScript, but that would undoubtedly also disable many essential features.

These guys can't even secure their own servers. I've stopped all access to my website and I still got hacked. They kept blaming it on my scripts when all I had was a embedded flash script.

The worst that I've ever seen.
I've had my site hosted at ixwebhosting for 4 years and I muddled through a lot of problems because it was too inconvenient to change.



But then their entire hosting site was hacked - every single web related file was modified (thousands for me alone). Then they blamed *me* for it. When I asked to have it restored it took them 4 days to respond - and then they no longer had a backup of my site that wasn't infected.



I then had tons of email problems. I filed 5 seperate requests about imap support - and they said "it works for me when I log into the web client". They didn't even know that it had nothing to do with imap when you go through the web browser.



They are truly the worst that I've ever heard of.

IX Webhosting does not know how to secure the sites.
I use the site generating tool provided in the IX Web hosting to create a static site with less than 10 pages. The site was hacked repeatly IX Web hosting has no clue how it was hacked and does not provide log file that shows the record of activities of attacking on my site.



We have changed the file permission under the site, it was not useful.



The customer/technical services are not helpful. I am moving my site elsewhere.

Horrendous.
- For the 7 months my site was hosted there, there were a lot of slow downs, database cut-offs and data lost, and they never provide any compensation or explanation of why that happened



- IX reserves the right to cut off your website at anytime whenever they feel like to. At first they would not tell you they are going to cut you off, they just asked you to accept their TOS terms of service. Once you did that they cut you off immediately.



- They do not allow user to download their own website or database once you're suspended. If you are not prepared you will be totally screwed. I have never seen hosting company not providing user their database when they move out.



- Technical support is horrendous, either the person there just try to play dumb or are complete idiots. They do not listen to your words, they just repeat over and over again



- Make sure you read every single word in their terms of service, there are a lot of unfair terms to the user & they know how to play with them.

POOR, POOR, POOR......
Wow! Two thumbs down! I'm a long time customer (5 plus years)

but am moving on...

Why? Because IX customer relations have gone down the tubes. I

just received an email out of the blue telling me that I'm in

"violation of their policy". I call them up and the first rep hangs up

on me! (that childish behavior is a big part of why I'm moving to

another hosting Co.). I call back and find out I'm caught in a

general audit and am flagged because I'm using over 10GB disk

space. Fine, tell me that in the first place - don't send an email

with this BS:

"Your account is currently violating the terms of our policy.

Unfortunately, we may be forced to suspend your account if you

are not able to remove any unnecessary files. Among others,

those files consist of illegal content such as warez or copyrighted

material, as well as storage of files not accessible via your website,

or utilizing your hosting account as a backup or storage container"

ALL THIS IS UNSUBSTANTIATED BS! Adios IX...

I had been a customer of IX Web Hosting for over 4 years. I have watched their service and support deteriorate significantly especially the past year. My web sites were routinely down and IX Web Hosting missed their guaranteed up-time metrics nearly every month. When I complained they would credit my account for an additional month. Finally after my sites were down for 10 consecutive days I decided a change was in order. I moved my sites and canceled my IX Web Hosting account. Rather than getting the money back I was told I would get a fraction of the refund I was owed. The customer service and billing department argued that the credits I received for them missing their stated guarantee were basically worthless from a monetary standpoint and that they continued to incur charges. Not only did I have to endure countless outages and deal with incompetent technical support leading to additional downtime and outages but I would pay for this "privilege" receiving a minimum refund.

problems with e-mail.
Frequent problems with e-mail servers. They don't require a

password to send e-mail so their accounts are utilized by

spammers. Consequently they are on the blacklist for incoming

servers for other ISP/hosts. There is a litany of other problems

associated with e-mail. My email account holders complain of

frequent missing e-mail bounced e-mail and not being able to

recieve e-mails sent to them.

IXnethosting tech staff continues to state there is no problem with

their e-mail.

We're definitely DONE!.
Well, coming from a newbie into the website business, I got HAD! I didn't think of reading reviews on host companies before signing up for IXWEBHOSTING. Boy! Did I learn!

We made it about 7 months, hoping things would get better (after their big Move...), but it didn't. I, too, got lied to over and over when my site kept disappearing over and over. I'd be working on it, and like magic >POOF< it was gone... for Hours! Sometimes even Days! When it returned, it would be an older version that set me back about a month of updated info.

Their answer to everything, "It's working fine here. It must be YOUR side." ahem.... Finally after many months of dismay thinking we were just new and dumb, we got it out of them that we were on a bad server and it finally crashed...for 5 days! When it came back, it was supposed to be better and new! NOT! We went down just as much. But whenever we contacted them, it was the same thing... "Must be on your side."



Enough! We may be new, but we're not that naive! My best advice is always do your homework and read reviews. This was an awful experience for us. We didn't even get a refund on any of the time that we were down or unused service. (even though their terms of use allowed us a refund). Interesting, huh?

One pet Isuue with them.
Last year they added a feature to "Enhance User Exoerience."

Their 404 pages go to that f*cking webportal.information.com so they collect pay per clicks on 404 pages. When they have 503 errors, your .htaccess is ignored and then they COLLECT REVENUES from your site being down.

I realize they have to pay for their new data center, but not on my clicks. As soon as I find a webhost review site that does not take bribes, and find someone else I am GONE.

Spamming my customers like that! No shame at all.

I never agreed to those "Enhancements". Screw this.

Protect your Money.. Stay AWAY from IX Hosting!.
Most UNRELIABLE web hosting out there. Read the reviews on IX Hosting. They are ALL true! Very poor support. I had to fix most of the ongoing problems myself. Most of the time IX support had no clue as to what the problems were. I guess the saying is true., "you get what you pay for." Cheap price... POOR service! IX is NOT number 1 and they DO NOT compensate you for down time. If they did they would be refunding all funds. Down time was every week. I asked for compensation. Was told NO. When asked about canceling my account. Asked not told them to cancel... asked. They suspended website completely. With NO refund. My account doesn't expire until Dec 2008, It's only July 2008. I'm out the money I paid them and the money I had to pay another hosting site. IX has been nothing but a HUGE headache. If your lively-hood depends on your website being active... STAY AWAY FROM IX HOSTING!

IXWebhosting SUCKS.
Had multiple accounts for 2 years. The first year was fine but then everything dropped off server performance, support, everything. My sites all functioned properly for a while then it went to hell. Email stopped working correctly support no help. Because of poor performance I was forced to migrate to updated servers. What should have taken 3 days took an entire month because the server kept breaking down. It was one thing after another and the outsourced support don't speak English so getting them to understand the problem and correct them was a nightmare. Wanted to migrate from Windows to Linux was told I could open a seperate account get everything set up then change the pointers to minimize downtime then when I went to do it they refused to open another account until I deleted my domain from the server it was being hosted on which totallty contradicted what support had told me to do. DO NOT HOST with IXwebhosting they are horrible!

IX hosting is the worst I've tried.
I was tricked into going with IX hosting by the low price and the numerous "review" sites which are simply hosting affiliates making money from everyone elses bad luck. SLOW, SLOW, SLOW, is the only way to describe it. You can have as many SQL Server databases as you want, but expect to share the server with hundreds of other users. Tech support is barely capable of creating complete sentences in English. Perhaps if you can speak Russian you'll have better luck. I wish there was a way to know up front if a hosting company outsourced their support to Russia or India. Indian tech support is always WAY BETTER, and you don't have to explain things 2 or 3 times before they know what the problem is. IX HOSTING SUCKS!!!

Awful recently.
Forum website installed OK on their "Expert-Plan" on Linux platform. Couple nights ago, suddenly the "Control Panel" became unavailable so they put up a maintenance page. I think they were just having major issues w/ server and put up maintenance page to mask problem. 12hours after MX window ended, CP was still down. Opened ticket to change PHP config, no one looked at tkt for over 2 days. I logged over 3hrs to tech support; their ACD dropped my call twice after 20min hold times, after 15 deep in call queue. Got tech, courteous, but not sharpest tool in shed. OK if you need just simple hosting, but do not count on responsiveness or reliability of their website management tools. Looking around now....

IX is ok if you don't get much traffic.
I had a small website (very, very little traffic) with IX for three years and everything went fine with it. I used the online ticket center for help a few times and consistently received responses within 24 hrs.



Then I started a blog under a new domain, still hosted with IX. I got an ok amount of traffic (about 2,500 visits/month) but my blog loading time was slow and sometimes it didn't load at all. I had many visitors (those that cared enough to email me!) complaining they couldn't access my blog for long periods of time.



I contacted IX and got a response quickly. They updated my server's software (I shouldn't have to ask for that). That sped things up for a few weeks then the same thing again. I can't have my site unavailable to users! I had to switch.



I wouldn't recommend IX for sites that get traffic! Too many "server time out" issues and sluggish loading times when it was working.

Constant Email Server Problems.
My business site has been hosted by IX for more than 2 years, but over the past 3-4 weeks I have had nothing but problems sending and receiving email. I have called tech support almost daily, and they cannot provide any solution other than "we are working on it". Email is either not delivered, or delayed 4-10 hours. I wish I could give a better reccomendation, but this recent difficulty has soured the entire experience.

Business site - been with ixwebhosting for more than 4 years



Its Cheap,

Website is pretty stable- almost 99% up

Tech Support- Useless but very friendly

Customer Service- Useless but very friendly

Software- Pretty good

Emailing- SUCKS- Emails get delayed more than 5 hours for couple of weeks every SINGLE YEAER!!

They stink.
I thought it was bad when I signed up with them, it's only gotten worse. When I signed up the site wasn't working, they said it was my fault. How is it my fault when it works one day, and I come back the next to find it not working, and it doesn't for a week, then suddenly does, with no input on my part. Now it is down off and on, emails never get through, I've got upset customers, and their website doesn't even work well enough to login to the panel. I waited on hold one time for an hour to talk to them, it told me there was 11 people in front of me, I called yesterday and there was 37 people in front of me! That would have been a 4 hour wait! I setup a ticket and it has now been over 24 hours! We'll see how their money back guarantee works!

Worst company ever.
I had 8 eCommerce domains hosted them. Over a two month period my sites went down three times for up to 8 hours each. I lost thousands of dollars in sales. IX could not give me an answer as to why my sites went down other than technical difficulties. Stay as far away from these people as you can.
